Well, as far as I can tell my food discipline is going to be for crap until I can pinpoint how to avoid a couple of "I need/I can justify a treat" stressors that lead me to eat badly.  I need to go through the kitchen and throw out everything left over from the party, since my waste-not-want-not sensibility always overrides the "since when does it make good householding sense to have half a bag of chips?" voice.

What I can do, and have the time for, since I'm not in the headspace to successfully deny myself stuff, is to add things to my regimen in order to feel like I'm in control in some way.  I saw a public health message with a tip about walking 5x a week for thirty minutes.  Now, THAT I can do.  This is, of course, in addition to any gym time I do during the week.  The additional calorie burn should hopefully be somewhat useful!
Also, taking the stairs whenever possible-- I've been punking out on that and using the elevator.
Thirty minutes is a jaunt around the block after I get home from work but before I get inside and veg out.  Thirty minutes is a walk to Human resources across campus and back.   Thirty minutes is window-shopping downtown.
Hm, yeah.

Well, maybe a little denial of the flesh. No refined sugar.  I know I can do this one.  I've been slipping into bad habits (see also: Sugar Butter Flour).

Take all the party food to work and leave it there--that's how I get around the "wasting food" problem; I'm not throwing it away, other people are eating it.

David just got his pedometer set up for me, so today is my first day with it. The plan is to see what my average steps in a day are, and then slowly increase them. I'm a big monkey for definable numbers, so I'm enjoying taking peeks at how many steps I've taken so far today. There are a lot of stairs in my day, but lately I've been elevating so I can see what the diff will be when I start, um, stairing.

When we start accumulating too much of that sort of thing around my house I will take some stuff in to work and abandon it on the break room table.
