Dawg Dash

The Assyrian came down like the wolf on the fold,
And his cohorts were gleaming in purple and gold;
And the sheen of their spears was like stars on the sea,
When the blue wave rolls nightly on deep Galilee.

I ran the UW's Dawg Dash this morning. I've been doing this since 2004 (only missing one year), but for the first time ever I ran the 10k rather than the 5k. Although, I'll admit, it seemed like a 20k. For those unfamiliar with the course, it has lots of hills in it. Steep hills. Lots. The 5k course, really only has one long uphill segment and then a long downhill, while the 10k just kept going up and down and up and down. Let me put it this way: I spent 4 years on this campus, hiking, biking, and generally exploring every nook and cranny. This course took me to parts of the campus I'd never seen before. Beautiful, foreign places.

The net result: I got my fastest 10k time ever. I thought I was only 10 seconds off from breaking the hour mark, but doing the math it looks like I was 1 minute, 10 seconds off (I thought I hit the stop button on my watch as I crossed the finish line, but apparently I didn't).

Stats below. )

And now, I ice my legs.
