Running Update
Aug. 9th, 2010 02:20 pmHoly F*ing Asscrackers.
So, yesterday I was a bad person. See, there are a few races that my dad and I try to catch every year and one of them is the Foot Zone 5k. It's nice because it's only a 5k and the total (not net, but total) elevation gain is 6 inches. Which means that it's the place to get your fastest 5k time. The badness comes in because I was supposed to run on Saturday, not Sunday, and run 4 miles at a leisurely pace instead of 3.1 miles as fast as I could. Because, as previously stated, I had to run 11 miles today.
For various complicated plot reasons I didn't get an accurate 5k time, but I was either right at 30 minutes or a second under it. Really, in retrospect, it doesn't seem to matter because I just now finished running for 2 hours and 18 minutes. By my calculations that's slightly over 11 miles, and if it isn't my longest run ever, it's not missing it by much. Thank goodness I spent the bulk of yesterday eating pasta or I wouldn't have had the energy to make it.
Speaking of eating, I'm going to go eat a bucket of ibuprofen, a gallon of Gatorade, and a peanut butter sandwich. And stretch. I really should stretch.
