State of the Grand Moff
Jul. 10th, 2008 09:35 amSince I'm a lemming, I thought I'd report on my fitness state.
Seeing
silverstreak's post reminded me to weigh in this morning, with a result of 212.6 lbs. This is about on par for me, as I've been oscillating between, say 211 and 214 pounds for a while. I went off my usual diet probably around Christmas time last year, always with the thought to get back on again "real soon now." Fortunately, I kept up the running (more on that later) which has kept me within 5 pounds of my low weight from that diet (209ish) despite being absolutely horrid about what I eat. Case in point, I'm having coffee and carrot cake for breakfast, but only because the raspberries on the linzer tort/cheesecake I made for the party had started to get moldy. On the other hand, we have been eating out of the garden a lot, and spinach salad has replaced rice or potatoes as a side dish more often than not lately.
I'm pretty happy with having stabilized at this point for so long, but I'd really like to get below 210 and be able to stay there. If I could stabilize at, say 205 or under, I would be deliriously happy. 210 has always been a significant point for me. My stomach starts to firm up and I get more than one ab. My face thins out, the double chin recedes and in general I start looking and feeling thinner. I have a sneaking suspicion that it wouldn't take long to get under 210 if I actually nutted up and got back on the diet.
As for the exercise, I'm pretty happy with what I've been able to do. Aside from a one week period when I was sick as a dog, I've kept up running a minimum of three days per week, thirty minutes per run for over a year. This is despite week long trips out of town and generally being a lazy bastard. I haven't been able to get back up to running 10k's yet though. I have a suspicion it's because my running shoes, which were never great to begin with, have worn out and I need to replace them. Either that or my legs have finally reached the limits of hauling my fat arse around and simply can't do it any more. Also, I need to get my butt hiking again. The only mountain I climbed last year was Tiger, and then only two or three times. Maybe on my day off next week I'll head up Mt. Si or something.
Oh, and the diet starts again next week. On Monday.
