Summary about a book
Sep. 4th, 2008 10:10 amSo I mentioned earlier I was reading the book "Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle". A few important take aways from the book. The number one thing you can do to improve your energy levels and to keep your body using calories is to spread your caloric intake over 5-6 meals a day. The second most important thing is the composition of those meals, 55-60% complex carbs, 30% protein, 10-15% unsaturated fats. Avoid like the plague refined sugars, simple carbs and saturated fats. They give you nice long lists of all the good proteins, carbs and "fats", but another thing they give you is the worse foods list.
The 12 worst fat-storing foods you should never eat
1 Ice cream
2 Fried foods
3 Doughnuts and pastries
4 Candy, chocolate & sweets
5 Soda
6 Fruit “drinks” and other sugar-sweetened beverages
7 Potato chips
8 Bacon, sausage
9 White Bread
10 Hot dogs, fast food burgers
11 Cookies
12 Sugary breakfast cereals
Okay outside of number 12 a lot of those are foods I (used to) eat regularly. Time to make up a shopping list and clear out the pantry.
